August 14-16 Event Includes Over 12 hours of live music! Nightly/Daily Jam Sessions 2 Nights Camping under giant redwoods 6 Meals |

-- THE GENERAL IDEA --
Camp Happy is a festival intended to be a place for people, friends, and families to come together and share a weekend of live music, food, fun and camping. Think of this as a group camping experience with great live music, where everyone helps out, joins in, makes new friends, and hopefully has a great time!
-- The Venue --
A natural amphitheatre nestled in the redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This 3+ acre outdoor space will have an area for music and another for camping, as well as walking paths and fun and games spread throughout the event space (such as a zip line, disc golf and the Family Slide).
-- The Location --
The exact location (within 5 miles of downtown Boulder Creek) will be revealed to ticket holders on or around August 8th. For those who may be privy to the location before that time, we ask that you not release that information to others, as this should be considered a private party, it will be sold to capacity and there will be no room for extra folks to just show up. Many thanks are given for your cooperation in this effort.
-- The Accommodations --
Plenty of lovely earth on which to place your tent (or sleeping bag, if you are an under the stars type o person). You may camp Friday or Saturday or both. If you need to stay on Sunday (Music ends by 6 to 8 PM), arrangements can be made.
The cost to camp will be $0.00 There will be toilet and sink facilities, but no (guaranteed) showers. (There is a shower in a private residence for very limited use, such as if you get caught in a beer geyser;-)
There are a few hotels and plenty of B&B type places in the San Lorenzo Valley, so if camping is not your thing, you may come and go as you wish.
-- The Amenities --
This year we are going to provide as many meals as we can during the weekend. This would include:
Friday: Dinner
Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Sunday: Breakfast, Lunch
Plus, there will be snacks a plenty throughout the weekend, and, oh yes, drinks. These will include plenty of filtered water to stay hydrated, plus juices, sodas, and at least 1 keg of local micro-brewed beer. The (monetary) cost for each of these items is $0.00. As already mentioned, there are plenty of fun things to do without leaving the venue, and all have a cost that is 1 penny below $0.01. We may have outdoor movies at night (if the music shuts down before everyone is tired, which was not the case last year :-) of course at the nominal pro-bono rate.
-- The Atmosphere --What we would like from Camp Happy attendees: (our desire)
An attitude of joy. Happy people are more fun to be around.
An eagerness to be a working part of the logistics. This means that you want to help out wherever possible, which could mean helping to cook, serve or clean up after meals, walking around and picking up any trash you see, helping with the music (set-up, break-down, gophering for bands, helping with the soundboard, etc), and simply to be looking to help make Camp Happy live up to its name. This will be the most fun if we all pitch in.
A modicum of humility. Be willing to go-with-the-flow as things inevitably change as plans become reality. This may be being patient with meal delays, or set time changes, or giving up your prized spot for your folding chair in order to make it easier (to feed people, for someone with a disability to hear or see, for other fun and games to take place,…) etc.
To make a friend. This may seem silly, but friends are one of the single best things you can have, and we’ll have a bunch here to choose from. No really. It is the hope for the producers to have each attendee make at least one new friend during the weekend. Mingle, introduce yourself. Who knows, your maid of honor, or business partner, or surfing buddy may be in the audience waiting for you to meet them.
To want to come back! Whatever you do at Camp Happy; however long you stay and whatever activities you participate in, we sincerely hope that you will want to come back. If there is anything that you need, please ask. If all goes well, you should be able to ask ANYONE for ANY need. If they cannot help you directly, then they would help to get you help. If in doubt or dire need, find one of the “hosts” who will be able to help directly. We also hope that our guests want the other guests to feel welcome and will want to come back, which is why we have some of the responsibilities that we do. (See the next section.)
What we expect like from Camp Happy attendees: (your responsibilities)
Be respectful of/to others. This is common sense. Do not berate, belittle, or be verbally abusive in any way to anyone. Be conscious of your contribution to the sights that people see, the sounds that they hear, the air that they breathe, etc. Be especially aware of and respectful to our younger guests as they frolic about the grounds.
"Remain in control of yourself (and your children ;-). Ultimately, you are responsible for your own actions (unless you are a child, in which case your parents are responsible for you). If you behave in an out-of-control or disrespectful manner you may be told to leave. Refunds will not be given due to ejection form the premises for acting inappropriately."
Be respectful of the property. Again, you will be on private property. Please treat the grounds and structures, paths, games, etc, as if it were your own (and you are someone who values a nice living space)
NO FLAME WHATSOEVER in the camping area. There will be places to use your camp stove cook for yourself if you really want to, and places to get warm if have no other way but fire, and there is NO SMOKING in the camping areas. Folks, this is CA in the late summer. No rain will have been seen for about 3 months and the place is a tinder box. One match or ember from a fire, stove, or cigarette will ruin our whole {pick your favorite extended time-span}."
